Description

These Cheesy Stuffed Breadsticks are golden brown, buttery, and packed with melted Monterey Jack cheese, making them the ultimate comfort food appetizer or snack. Perfectly seasoned with garlic, oregano, and fresh parsley, and served with marinara sauce for dipping, they bring a delightful cheesy pull with each bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 16 oz. Cabot Monterey Jack cheese

Dough

  • 2 1-pound balls of pizza dough

Garlic Butter

  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley (plus more for garnishing)
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For Serving

  • marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Cheese: Cut one block of Monterey Jack cheese lengthwise into 8 long pieces. From the second block, cut half the block into 4 long pieces, totaling 12 long pieces of cheese. Grate the remaining half block and set both the pieces and shredded cheese aside.
  3. Roll the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece of pizza dough into a 10” by 18” rectangle.
  4. Assemble Breadsticks: Place one dough rectangle on a large cutting board. Line the 12 pieces of cheese evenly across the length, then sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on top.
  5. Seal with Second Dough Layer: Place the second dough rectangle on top, pressing the layers firmly to seal tightly around each piece of cheese.
  6. Cut the Breadsticks: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut between each cheese piece to create 12 stuffed breadsticks. Pinch the dough tightly around each stick to seal completely.
  7. Bake: Arrange the stuffed breadsticks on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 16-18 minutes, until they turn light golden brown.
  8. Prepare Garlic Butter: While baking, whisk together melted butter, parsley, kosher salt, garlic powder, and dried oregano in a small bowl.
  9. Brush and Serve: Remove breadsticks from the oven and brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use fresh Monterey Jack cheese for the best melt and flavor.
  • Ensure dough edges are sealed well to prevent cheese from leaking while baking.
  • Serve immediately for the best gooey cheese experience.
  • Optional: Garnish with extra chopped parsley for a fresh look.
  • Marinara sauce can be warmed slightly before serving for enhanced dipping flavor.
